Benefits to Africa
The Okapi Pipelines
BMI’s primary objective is to build, operate, maintain and secure a pipeline to provide fresh water to dry regions in Africa and the Middle East. However, BMI’s desire to serve the people of the region and to improve their lives goes far beyond merely providing water. We intend to provide 30,000 to 50,000 jobs to people in areas where little or no current employment exists.
Cement plants will be built to fabricate prestressed concrete cylinderical pipe (PCCP) to transport water. Millions of yards of concrete will be used to construct the two service roads (1500 km – 3000 km). Post-construction, these plants will be available to provide concrete to build additional roads and improve the regions’ infrastructures.
Hydroelectric power and telecommunication services will be extended.
